Our guild is always sewing up a storm! From the Quilt Show & Sale in October, to Service Quilts made for members of Kodiak's community, we are a busy guild. We welcome all Kodiak Island visitors and locals to join our monthly meetings. To see our recent creations and projects, view our gallery below or check us out on Facebook!
Kodiak Bear Paw Quilters was formed in 1992, and is an active service organization on our island community. Our mission is to generate appreciation and enthusiasm in the art of fine quilt making, to provide educational programs, cultural experiences, historical and current information in the art and craft of quilting, to hold meetings, seminars and quilting bees for the education and enjoyment of our members and the general public. The Kodiak Bear Paw Quilters Guild attempts to meet the needs of members in a fun and positive way with as few rules as possible. In fact, we don't call them rules - we call them guidelines. We are always accepting new members!
The Kodiak Bear Paw Quilters Guild is a member of the Kodiak Arts Council, which provides the guild with nonprofit status, use of a raffle permit, and numerous other advantages in managing a small, not-for-profit organization. Our membership helps the Kodiak Arts Council expand beyond the performing arts and into visual arts. We have a great relationship that helps our members be recognized as the fiber artists that they are. The Guild is also a member of the Association of Pacific Northwest Quilters, whose purpose is to promote the art of quilt making and to encourage and reward quilt makers in the geographic Pacific Northwest region.
We have so many talented quilters in our community, and we hope you will be inspired as you browse our collection.
Periodically, we offer quilting classes and workshops. Look for more information here or on our Facebook page!
